Research, development and production of a handheld augmented reality system for AIT
Timeframe: 2018-2019
Research, development and production, on behalf of ESA, of a handheld augmented reality system for AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Test) activities of small space electronics systems and electronic modules.
VirtUA consists of an Android smartphone or tablet and smart probes acting as sensor devices. After easily connecting the probes to the electronics under test, the user is able to see measured data from the probes on the phone or tablet at the position of the smart probe.
The system is able to integrate easily with other lab equipment such as programmable power supplies, e.g. it can display voltage and current measurements from the power supply and also control it.
Another component of the system distributes all messages of the smart probes in the network. This allows to show the data on several smartphones or this can be used to log all data to a dedicated system.
